Recently, new measures have been announced to continue supporting those who need it most.
The Renta Ciudadana program, along with other initiatives, aims to improve the quality of life of millions of Colombians.
Subsidy distribution continues under the Valoración del Cuidado line, benefiting more than 500,000 vulnerable families across the country
Departamento de Prosperidad Social (DPS) has resumed payments for the sixth cycle of the ‘Valoración del Cuidado’ intervention line of the Renta Ciudadana program. These payments will benefit 546,761 households experiencing vulnerability and will continue through the end of January 2025. The total investment for this cycle amounts to $273.38 billion.
Beneficiary households will receive transfers ranging from $220,000 to $500,000, depending on their level of vulnerability and household composition. This intervention line is aimed at single-parent households with children under six or people with disabilities.
How can I find out if I am a beneficiary of Valoración del Cuidado?
To check whether you are part of the program, go to this website. If you confirm that you will receive a payment, use the Prosperidad Social calculator to find out how much you will receive. Then, visit Banco Agrario's payment inquiry page to check where and how you can receive your cash transfer.
Banco Agrario is responsible for making the payments. Beneficiaries with bank accounts will receive a text message indicating their payment method, whether by deposit into a savings account or through banking correspondents such as Supergiros, Efecty, Reval, Punto de Pago, and ePago; they can also receive payments through Movii, the BICO digital wallet, and ATMs in the Servibanca network.
What is known about the other subsidy lines?
Prosperidad Social director Gustavo Bolívar has reported that there will be several changes to the subsidy programs, and that more than three million people in the country will stop receiving cash transfers from the “Government of Change” programs.
Accordingly, the programs that remain in place at President Gustavo Petro's direction are Colombia Mayor, Renta Ciudadana, and Devolución del IVA.
It is important for families in vulnerable situations to stay informed about changes and opportunities related to these subsidies. Resources such as the DPS website and the Prosperidad Social calculator are very helpful.
Likewise, when every peso counts, cash transfers from these programs provide significant relief for many Colombian families, helping them meet basic needs and improve their quality of life.
More beneficiaries are expected to gain access to these programs throughout 2025, thereby strengthening the country's social safety net.
