The first 2025 ‘Renta Ciudadana’ payment has begun through SuperGIROS
The National Government has launched the first Renta Ciudadana payment cycle of 2025, an initiative intended to ease the financial difficulties faced by the country’s most vulnerable families.
In this cycle, 546,761 households will begin receiving cash transfers designed to support their well-being and help reduce poverty. Payments, available through January 30, will distribute more than $83 billion through SuperGIROS, the country's largest money transfer network.
One of the program's main challenges is ensuring access to funds in rural areas, where banking options are limited. With a network of more than 22,000 service points throughout the country, SuperGIROS has become a strategic partner in this mission.
_“We are committed to the country's social development and to financial inclusion as a driver of transformation. SuperGIROS works with government initiatives to boost the local economy, transform lives and deliver real solutions, especially in the country's most remote regions,”_ said Hugo Zurek, SuperGIROS general manager, making the announcement.
Each beneficiary household will receive up to 500,000 pesos, with the possibility of receiving 600,000 pesos if it participates in the Devolución del IVA program. These amounts provide significant support for families experiencing vulnerability, especially amid ongoing global and local economic challenges.
Since its creation, ‘Renta Ciudadana’ has become a cornerstone of the National Government's social policy, enabling thousands of households to improve their quality of life and reduce inequality. The transfers not only help cover basic needs but also allow families to cope with unexpected expenses.
Citizens who want to check whether they are beneficiaries of the program can do so on the Prosperidad Social website or by calling the citizen service line set up for this purpose. Transparency and access to information are key aspects of the program's management.
This payment cycle, significant in the current context, shows how social policies can adapt to the country's changing realities. The implementation of ‘Renta Ciudadana’ reflects the National Government's effort to address poverty and inequality more effectively, using platforms such as SuperGIROS to extend the reach of its initiatives.
A focus on inclusion and accessibility is also essential. Modern payment technologies and platforms are playing a key role in making financial services available in areas where access to traditional banks is limited. Through SuperGIROS, more people will be able to access the financial assistance they urgently need.
The impact of ‘Renta Ciudadana’ can be measured not only by the amount of money distributed, but also by how this tangible program is improving people's quality of life. Supporting the local economy and strengthening social ties are fundamental goals that help build a more equitable future for all Colombians.
The success stories of program beneficiaries support this claim. Many families who once struggled to meet their basic needs have experienced significant change thanks to these cash transfers. This kind of support is crucial in a world where poverty persists and economic challenges are becoming more frequent.
For all these reasons, ‘Renta Ciudadana’ is positioned not only as a temporary solution to financial difficulties, but also as a tool for long-term social change. Economic recovery following past crises is essential, and programs like this are the foundation for building a better tomorrow.
Finally, it is important to note that active community participation and citizen oversight are essential. Education about the program and how it works can empower beneficiaries, ensuring they fully understand their rights and the scope of the benefits they receive. In this regard, every Colombian has a responsibility to get involved and stay informed about the opportunities the Government has made available.
‘Renta Ciudadana’ and its implementation through SuperGIROS are significant steps toward a fairer, more balanced future in which every family has the opportunity to prosper and improve its quality of life.
